The Eyes Say It All

The argument can be made that eyes are the most expressive feature on the face.  They dance, plead, laugh, cry, pout, and exhibit many other signs that speak volumes.  How many times have we heard the saying, “If you want to know if people are telling the truth, look into their eyes?”  It seems they might even be a type of litmus test.

Aging eyes also have a lot to say, but the message is not always what we want to hear.  Loss of elasticity and bagginess can shout “I’m Tired” evEye lid surgery in Hattiesburg, Mississippien when a person is fully rested.  In fact, our eyes are one of the first places on the body to show signs of aging, and this often leaves men and women in search of creams, serums, and other elixirs that promise to reverse time.  A number of individuals even spend a small fortune through the years trying to find just the right product.  Naturally, some work better than others, but no topical treatment is going to take away excess skin, puffy lower lids, and accumulated fat.

Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, can make a dramatic difference in how the world sees you (and how you see yourself).  Actually, eyelid surgery is one of the most frequently performed cosmetic procedures in the United States.

Why do so many people opt for this type of operation?  Because the results are long-lasting, and the outcome is amazing.  Individuals who undergo the procedure look substantially more refreshed.

Let’s touch upon some upper and lower eyelid concerns.

1.    Upper eyelid. Saggy lids that droop over the upper eye can make a person look sad, angry, stressed, and/or overwhelmed.  The natural fold of the skin tends to disappear, and all that seems visible is loose skin.  Excess fat compounds the problem, and some people even have compromised vision due to heavy hooding.  Unfortunately, no amount of rest can correct the condition.  Yet, upper eyelid surgery makes a dramatic difference in appearance.  It is considered cosmetic; however, when eyesight is obstructed, insurance may pay for part or all of the cost.
2.    Lower Eyelid.  Puffy, baggy, or slack lower lids often result in an older, sleep-deprived look.  In certain people, puffiness is genetic and can begin at a relatively young age.  In this type of situation, the surrounding skin is usually firm, but protruding fat pockets project an undesirable bulge.  Puffiness and loose skin often create a worn appearance when people really feel quite vibrant.  Bag removal and/or skin tightening work to erase these signs.  Individuals look re-energized, the eye is more open, vitality is restored, and slackness is minimized or eradicated.
It is important to mention that some people need only one eyelid area addressed, while others could benefit from both.  In either situation, the common reaction after correction is “Wow!”
So, if your eyes are not as vibrant as you would like, schedule a consultation with Dr. Talbot today.  Eyelid rejuvenation may be just what you need to tell everyone how you really feel.
